Giving a voice to the French soldiers who died in the Battle of the Dardanelles in 1915
The Battle of the Dardanelles was a major engagement of the First World War. And yet, it is often overlooked in the national memory. That is why pupils at the Lycée Français Pierre Loti in Istanbul have chosen to give a voice to the French soldiers buried in the cemetery. The proposed tour highlights the diverse origins of the combatants, who came from both the metropolis and the colonies, as well as the variety of battlefields, whether on land, at sea or in the air.
